This project has been a long time in the making, and it's born from the simple, wholesome feeling of Christmas—the joy of good food, big smiles, and the delight of unwrapping a special little treasure. As a brand, our core ingredient is joy, and we wanted to capture that warmth in every single detail of this collection.
From Dream to Reality: A Look Inside the Design Process
Our vision for the Advent Box started with the unboxing experience itself. We worked backward from that point, meticulously designing a set that would feel like a true gift. The idea was to create sweet little brown paper packages, each one a delightful surprise waiting to be opened, revealing a flash of gold foiling and the most wholesome little illustrations imaginable.
This collection is for our long-time friends and fans, and it was essential that we stayed true to our signature design elements—the durable thread bindings and smooth, ivory inner papers you know and love. But we also seized the opportunity to introduce something new: the delicate, pocket-sized A6 notebook, a first for Creator's Friend.
The Perfect Partner in Creativity: A Collaboration with Shaylee Lucas
Bringing this project to life required the perfect collaborator. When we first envisioned this collection, it was just a pipe dream. But then, we discovered artist Shaylee Lucas's portfolio and were immediately drawn to her work. Her delightful illustrations and personal style perfectly captured the warm, chaotic vibes we wanted to channel.
Working with Shaylee was a dream. We tasked her with creating a holiday-themed series in her unique style, and she returned with a concept that we instantly fell in love with: the idea that food is the heart of festive joy and warmth. From there, she began crafting the most beautiful illustrations of mulled wines, brandy puddings, and striped candies. The collaboration was seamless, with Shaylee's openness to ideas and her incredible talent bringing each design to life.
Seeing her entire collection in rich offset print on our uncoated craft papers is an absolute dream—each one an illustration that makes us smile.

We have gone above and beyond our classic notebook range by capturing something as bold as the joy of Christmas in a set of unique illustrations.
